The first thing you can expect from your lesson is a very down to earth approach to this sport. Whether you come from a background that includes numerous water activities or not, the fundamentals will be explained so that anyone can easily grasp the concepts. Over the past few years developments in the technology of kiteboarding have made it much safer, user friendly and faster to learn, thus, introducing many new people to the sport from all ages and physical abilities. You don't have to be a professional athlete to excel to a very high level of riding. This is a very expressive sport where each individual develops into his or her own unique style and this is what we hope to bring out.
The lesson plan that is used in Dillon Kite Sports is specifically designed in conjunction with PASA (Professional Air Sports Association). PASA is the most highly regarded instructional orginazation in the kiteboarding industry. They have taken years to develope their teaching techniques, and have hundreds of certified instructors all over the world. More info can be obtained about PASA by visiting www.pasakiteboarding.org . All instructors in Dillon Kite Sports are PASA certified. After completing the course and being able to perform the following skills, you will be considered a level 1 kiteboarder through PASA.
1. Determine wind direction, speed and quality to assess safety.
2. Understand the requirements for a good launch area.
3. Understand the rules of the road with other kiters.
4. Set-up equiptment independently and safely perform a pre-flight check.
5. Use and reset all safety features on the equiptment.
6. Use of kite harness.
7. Perform self-rescue techniques to disarm the kite and get to shore with gear.
8. Perform a safe launching and landing of the kite.
9. Execute kite water relaunches.
10. Body Dragging in control of direction.
The fee for instruction is $400. A $50. NON- REFUNDABLE deposit will be required to hold your reservation. Reservations can be made through Dillonkitesports.com and will be applied to the $400. lesson fee. Lessons last about 8 hrs depending on weather/water conditions. All equiptment will be provided by Dillon Kite Sports.
